Vinicius Junior, a Brazilian attacker for Real Madrid, has chosen to become a citizen of Spain, greatly enhancing Los Blancos’ potential future transfer market.

The 22-year-old winger, who is currently in his fifth season with Real Madrid, has won the Champions League with the team after Madrid paid Flamengo £40.5 million to snag him in 2018.
His decision benefits Madrid because the maximum number of non-EU players that a side may have in its roster and have in its matchday lineup is three, both of which are limited by La Liga regulations.
Previously, Vinicius, Eder Militao, and Rodrygo would take up those three positions. This ultimately made Madrid’s business during the summer transfer window difficult.
Vini Jr.’s decision, however, has allowed Madrid to fill the vacant non-EU position.
According to a statement from Real Madrid CF, Vinicius Junior, a Brazilian player for the team, “swore to the Spanish Constitution last Friday, September 2, and as of that time, he also holds Spanish nationality.”
Vinicius Junior is a Brazilian-Spanish professional footballer who competes for Real Madrid of La Liga and the Brazil national team as a striker. He is regarded as one of the top players and wingers in the world and is well-known for his dribbling prowess, quickness, and shooting.
Vincius, a So Gonçalo native, started his professional career at Flamengo when he was 16 years old. In 2017, he made his senior debut there.
Just several days later, Vincius was transferred to La Liga team Real Madrid. He signed for them in a £38 million deal, which was a record for a U-18 player in the country.
Vincius made his club debut in 2018–19 when the move became official once he became 18 years old. By his fourth season, Vincius had made a name for himself in the Real Madrid team, helping the team win the 2021–22 La Liga championship and scoring the game-winning goal in the 2022 UEFA Champions League Final.
