NBA Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat has extended his contract for a further four years, the organisation announced on Sunday.

According to some accounts, the contract was for an average of $30 million every season, with performance bonuses over the course of the agreement potentially increasing the value to $130 million.

Miami selected the American player, who is 22 years old, 13rd overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.
The Heat made it to the NBA Finals during his first season, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in the championship game of 2020. However, the Heat were ousted in the first round of the 2021 playoffs and fell in a seven-game series to Boston in this year’s Eastern Conference finals.
Averaging 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 32.6 minutes on the field, Herro came off the bench in 56 of his 66 games the previous season to win the NBA top reserve title.
Over the course of his three league seasons, Herro has averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, increasing his point total each time.

Herro was chosen to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2020 after being taken by the Heat with the 13th overall choice in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft. He made it to the NBA Finals while playing for the Heat for the first time. In 2022, he was selected the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year.
