Rahul Dravid Gets COVID-19 Positive Just Before the Asia Cup 2022

Indian team has got a chance to bounce back after the crushing defeat against Pakistan in the first match of the T20 World Cup 2021. The Indian men in blue will face Pakistan in the Asia Cup on 28 August. Meanwhile, this year the Asia Cup is scheduled in UAE.

Just before the four days of the start of the Asia Cup, Team India suffered a major setback. Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid has been found COVID-19 positive. BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has confirmed this information. India will play their first match in the Asia Cup against Pakistan on 28 August.

Question mark on availability of Rahul Dravid for Asia Cup 2022

It is not yet clear whether Rahul Dravid will be with the team during this match. Ever since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the board’s policy has been to keep Covid positive players or support staff in isolation. Therefore, it is possible that Rahul will join the team after the negative report comes.

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhamool said-

‘There has been no change in the team’s schedule and a decision on Rahul Dravid is yet to be taken. It is not yet decided whether he will be changed or not.

India faced their 1st defeat against Pakistan in World Cup 2021

Remind that the last encounter between both nations was in the T20 World Cup last year. Pakistan under the leadership of Babar Azam defeated India by 10 wickets. The Asia Cup is important in the preparations for the World Cup.

The Asia Cup 2022 will be a T20 format Asia Cup. Asia Cup’s format is not fixed its chances as the nearest World Cup format. This year cricketing nation has to play T20 World Cup in Australia that’s why the format of the tournament is T20.
