Two-time world champion West Indies has announced its team for the T20 World Cup-2022. Nicholas Pooran has been given the captaincy of the team. Opener Evin Lewis is back. Not only this, the uncapped players i.e. Nik Cario and Raimo Refer have also been given a chance.
Announcing the squad on Wednesday, Cricket West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes said, “We have picked mostly young and experienced players to represent the West Indies. For the selection process, we kept an eye on the CPL and picked those players who were playing very well.
The World Cup, which is going to be held in Australia, will start on October 16. After that first phase, the Super 12 matches will be played from October 22. Similarly the final will be played on November 13.

The team has to play qualifiers
The 2012 and 2016 T20 world champions West Indies will have to play the qualifiers this time. Because she has failed to make it to the top 12. If she wins the qualifiers, she will get entry into the Super-12.
The team’s first match in this round will be against Zimbabwe on 19 October. After that, she will play matches against Scotland and Ireland. Out of these, the top 2 teams will be able to enter the Super-12.
